As I have shared these questions from “Innovate Inside the Box” often in finding the strengths, passions, and abilities of the students in our classrooms:
They can be modified for different age levels and can help tie teaching from a curriculum into student learning. For example, if you know I am passionate about sports, could you cover curriculum objectives in a language arts class while encouraging me to read the material in which I am interested?
I asked the following in “Innovate Inside the Box“:
How would knowing the answers to these questions for our students, both from the educator perspective and the student perspective, help shape a much more positive experience in our classrooms?
The reason I am resharing this idea is that I was recently asked, “Would you use the five questions in an interview?”
I love that idea!
Think of the reframing of these questions from a staff perspective:
How would knowing the answers to these questions for our
studentsstaff, both from the educator perspective and the studentleadership perspective, help shape a much more positive experience in our classroomsschool community?
The beautiful thing is that the questions wouldn’t take much adjusting to support our staff:
Just like the questions for students, not everything can be tailored to the answer for every staff member in every situation in our schools. It is not possible.
Yet, knowing the answers, these questions can open up doors that we did not know were there in the first place.
If this process is beneficial for our students, the process and the modeling would be great for our staff as well.
