Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

How do you get rid of Monkey Poop? The drama continues...

If you read my blog last year, I commented on Monkey Poop.  She is the nit-picking teacher that I couldn't get along with.  She was insulting, demeaning, and arrogant.

Well, this year I didn't have to deal with her.  Boy was she mad that I wasn't on "her" team.  She was team leader this year.  She is way into control and wanted to control me.  However, the good news is that I taught ELL.  And, I had an absolutely fantastic year.

Because we did such a good job in ELL, we had to close the program and move all the students into regular classrooms.  I had to have a new position. (luckily I have been here 22 years and they like me).

At first they told me I would bump someone new in 5th grade and I was'nt happy because I don't like to bump people.   I have taught 5th grade and loved it.  I also love the team members.  But, then the poop hit the fan again yesterday and Monkey Poop caused so many problems that they decided to split up the present 4th grade team and move me back in and her out.  SOOOoooooo, she got the 5th grade position.

Now, SHE is happy and I am still happy.  I love 4th grade too.

Of course there is a "however".  There always is with Monkey Poop.  The however is that the 5th grade team absolutely HATE her.  They are refusing to teach with her.  They have threatened to ask for in-district transfers.  Now, I don't blame them.  I had to get away from her myself.

I am not sure how this will all come out.  My solution would be to transfer Monkey Poop to a new school and explain to her that the reason is because no one gets along with her and she needs to re-evaluate her people skills.  She needs another chance and she does need to start fresh.  A new school would be just the ticket.

I will let you know how it all turns out.  I don't want to lose our 5th grade team.  They are awesome.

Kill the Monkey Poop with Kindness.... This doesn't seem to be working in with this poisenous teacher. Perhaps You and a few other of your colleagues sit her down and tell her the truth ----that her negative and combative attitude is affecting all of you. Do NOT on egg-shells around this teacher. Just keep smilin' and don't let her anger at the world damper what you are trying to achieve--the success of your students! Hope this helps.
